Project 2 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Project 2 - Essay Example Therefore in order to save the ecology of our environment it’s essential to keep a limit on the deforestation operations, even if it leads to losses for the business and corporate sector. Deforestation Deforestation takes place when a large area of the forest is cleared for the purpose of construction of new residential buildings, industrial hubs or for other business purposes. Once the area gets deforested, trees are never re-planted. This results in gradual reduction of forests which has now become an important global issue. If the current rate of deforestation is continued, the world’s rain forests would completely disappear within hundred years. One of the major reasons of deforestation is agriculture. The second most accepted reason includes the logging operation that supplies the wood and paper to the whole world. Rapid urbanization and increased number of constructions can be regarded as the third most logical reason of deforestation. The other minor reasons incl ude wildfires and overgrazing. The effects of deforestation can have various negative effects on the society. The most crucial one is the loss of habitat for innumerable species. Data says that around 70% of the earth’s animals and birds live in forests, which won’t be able to survive when deforestation would take place. Deforestation also causes climatic changes giving rise to soil erosion, decrease in rainfall and temperature swings. Also trees are known for absorbing greenhouse gases that supports global warming. Fewer trees means huge amount of greenhouse gases entering the environment which in turn fuels the severity and magnitude of global warming. Solution to deforestation The secondary research techniques have been used for finding the solution to the problem of deforestation. These types of data are collected from research conducted by other people or organizations. The World Wide Fund for nature (WWF) has started forest conservation approach that aims toward preventing deforestation starting from the rainforests to the temperate forests. They had already started their work towards the protection of forests half a century back and now they have proudly announced the accomplishment of their efforts towards the conservation of the ecosystem. The fastest and simplest solution to deforestation would refer to simply restrict the cutting down of trees. However implementing this solution needs a more organized approach. We can opt for a careful management of the forest resources by the elimination of clear-cutting to ensure that the environment of the forest remains intact. It’s evident from the rate of deforestation that cutting down of forests is unavoidable for the survival and growth of humans. Therefore the solution should try to balance the rate of cutting trees and the rate of planting new ones. Although this solution would start to replenish the loss of forest in recent years, we need to plant more and more trees for settling the damage caused in the past. If we look closely towards our environment, we will find that not only deforestation but also several other factors causes the imbalance of the biodiversity. In our day to day life, we can contribute towards the safety of our eco-system by taking little measures like planting and maintaining trees, avoiding unnecessary usage of

Application Paper on Film Jerry McGuire or Dead Man Walking Movie Review

Application Paper on Film Jerry McGuire or Dead Man Walking - Movie Review Example In the movie under study, most of the characters exhibited mindless listening in several events. This can be attributed to the field that the characters are in which is sports promotion of athletes. In such fields, talking is more valued than listening because agents need to sell and to promote their clients to advertisers and other stakeholders in sports. This is productive specifically when the speaker can deliver his messages successfully. The main character, Jerry Maguire is a perfect example of a good speaker. He has 72 clients during the start of the movie which is considered as a successful feat, thus, he is one of the most important sports agents in the company. This changed when he realized that he needs to change his lifestyle. The situation where he is in can be considered to be caused by the lack of listening skills. He constantly talks in his job and that became his normal manner of communicating with other people. Lack of listening skills can lead to miscommunications a nd for Jerry Maguire lack of proper connection with other people. He always tends to speak which is considered as one of the most common examples of challenges in the process of listening.

19th century Romanticism in France Research Paper

19th century Romanticism in France - Research Paper Example He bathes himself in the emotional zeal and beliefs of the French Revolution and greatly admires Napoleon Bonaparte. He outwardly professes to be a monarchist all the while secretly reading Rousseau’s Confessions by candle light. For Stendhal then, Sorel serves as a means of expressing the pain many French Romantic thinkers and writers felt when trying to reconcile the lofty ideals of the eighteenth century Enlightenment with the realities of the French Revolution. It is important to recall that throughout the eighteenth century France was the philosophical heart and soul of the Enlightenment. Its language was most often the preferred prose for its expression. French after all was the language of Voltaire, Rousseau, Diderot, and Condorcet (among others). In their ideas, however, there already developed a troubling dichotomy: the belief that science could answer any question and that man, if he so chose, could better himself using that same science. The eighteenth century’s â€Å"rising middle class proclaimed new political ideas: democracy and patriotism. It had a new conception of morality: civic virtue and heroism† (Antal 1935, p. 160). The Enlightenment sought to apply science and â€Å"rationalize† every part of society. Thus it was irrational for a king to have absolute power. It was rational for the people to determine things. If only the latter were the case then society’s ills would be no more. Of course the end result could not have been farther from these ideals: with the French King beheaded and the social order laying ruins, France of the 1790’s was the place of murder, mayhem, and inhumanity. The ideals of â€Å"liberty, fraternity, equality† were a mockery. And when Napoleon brought order he did so only after crowning himself emperor and thus demonstrated that order in France was only possible if there was a strong monarch. Stendhal was a believer in the French Revolution and himself

Workforce issues in nursing Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Workforce issues in nursing - Research Paper Example Several workforce accounts have appeared in the last decade to describe the cause and influence of the general nursing scarcity on healthcare. The majority of these studies state that registered nurses consist of the prime healthcare profession, with two million positions (Sherman, 2006). A report documented by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations states that, 126,000 vacancies in nursing are not filled in health care institutions (Sherman, 2006). This means that, an overall scale of 13% for the positions is not occupied (Sherman, 2006). The State University of New York reports that, shortages in nursing were quoted as an important point by 90% of the countries involved (Sherman, 2006). A small number of female nurses join the profession due to the availability of employment chances for women in male controlled fields. Few students registered into nursing options as there was a recognized staff shortage, and an aging labor force going for retirement or roles that are stressful (Hart, 2006). The NSSRN reports that, the normal period of the entire registered nurses population was anticipated at the age of 45 in 2000, which is the maximum age since the research was initiated (Buerhaus, Staiger, and Auerbach, 2000). Buerhaus, Staiger, and Auerbach (2000) continue to indicate that very few staff members were below 40 years of age. This explains why a huge percentage of persons have a negative attitude towards the nursing profession. The extent of work satisfaction differs on where nurses perform their duties. Nurses employed in hospitals experience poor job satisfaction. Imbalanced staffing, hefty jobs, overtime, and insufficient wages are quoted as principal contributors to shortage in nursing (Sherman, 2006). In the course of my profession, I have experienced a lot of nurses working overtime with patients. I have also experienced

The 60's Societal customs and norms of the period (such as gender Essay - 1

The 60's Societal customs and norms of the period (such as gender roles, and. Also what is the collective view on God during this era) - Essay Example The evident changes ranged from values, education, laws, lifestyles, and entertainment. As the article The groovy 1990’s discusses, the 1960’s was a decade in which gender roles were thoroughly questioned. Inspired by the success of the civil rights movement, women in America and elsewhere around the world had set out on a quest to convert the ensuing quest for racial equality to a pursuit for women’s rights. Access to a credit, equal pay, and equal rights amendments were some of the agendas that were being pursued. A notable feature of this era was the escalation in the popularity of the birth control pill. Besides being an affordable tool for curbing unwanted pregnancies, the pill became a symbol of female emancipation. Having acquired unrestricted access to the pill, women had finally managed to gain increased control over their future. Not only did they now have the power to pursue long term jobs, they also had the ability to pursue higher education and compete for careers previously preserved for men. Besides the pill, the rise of feminisms wa s another notable feature in the fight for a shift in gender roles: Throughout the 1960’s, women groups such as New York Radical Women and the New York Radical Feminists emerged to challenge male supremacy both within the family and the political arena. According to the book The Age of Contradiction, the first two years marked the emergence of the phenomenon, â€Å"radical feminist† (â€Å"1998 Howard Brick†). Musically, it was a decade characterised by a surge in the celebrity culture and celebrity worship. Taking a departure from earlier decades in which great musicians were merely appreciated, the 1960’s ushered in a new era in which musicians became the ideal representation of success and fame; musicians were now the only standard against which one’s fame could accurately be measured. It was thus a decade in which musicians such as Elvis Presely, Jack Kennedy
